Overview

We are looking for an Accounting Professional to oversee/improve and facilitate the day-to-day accounting functions of the family office.  This person will be responsible for financial reporting/accounting/cash management/budgeting with the family office.  This position will be held accountable to specific financial goals which will be measured by budget vs. actual  numbers to be  reported out weekly and monthly.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for on-time and accurate payment of all invoices related to all real estate.
  • The Controller will develop goals for and provide direction to the family office team, and lead the team to continually improve performance and close time.
  • He or she will also research and provide guidance on technical accounting issues; contribute to the annual planning process; ensure accurate documentation of and compliance with policies, processes and internal controls; and participate in and/or lead special projects, including the implementation of new systems/technologies in order to reduce close time and risk.       
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting and the year-end audit and tax schedule preparation process.
  • Responsible for being on time and have accurate financials.
  • Review and reconcile investments on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Manage aspects of the Family Estate.
  • Manage aspects of the Charity.
  • Manage real estate holdings.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of public/private mix
  • Prior Managerial Experience in an accounting role
  • Proven budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Cash management knowledge
  • Ability to multitask
  • Real Estate accounting and financing experience preferred
  • BS degree in Accounting a must
  • CPA a plus
  • MBA a plus

Skills:

  • High Proficiency with Quickbooks software.
  • Strong systems experience and knowledge that includes proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a working knowledge of enterprise systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge that includes GAAP & SOX.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel essential
  • Great Plains Dynamics experience a plus
