Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary according to the destinations but typically include some or all of the following:

 

  • Ownership of product delivery and customer satisfaction for the entire cruise program to achieve set quality goals.
  • Primary holder of relationship with Hotel Staff, Ground Staff and on selected programs with Nautical Crew to ensure program itineraries are adhered to.
  • Delivers all briefings, port talks, selected presentations, and oversees commentary delivery along sailing route.
  • Arranges and confirms all tours, entertainment and lectures, accompany guests on each as the company representative.
  • Selling and organising excursions & tours as well as other activities.  This position is part of the companywide Revenue Generating Team.
  • Communicating a range of information on itineraries, destinations and culture; Communicates changes confidently to guests.
  • Coordinate all transportation logistics with bus and cab companies to ensure timely and smooth service.
  • Using professional knowledge to answer questions from guests and to fulfil their expectations of the tour. Respond and accommodate guest requests, including highly personalized ones such as kayaking, golf and transportation arrangements.
  • Making contact in advance with places to stay or visit to check details and arrangements.
  • Making sure all travel arrangements run according to plan and that accommodation, meals and service are reconfirmed and satisfactory;Acts as a liaison with local vendors for all partners and communicates issues with regional offices.
  • Responding to questions and offering help with any problems that arise, ranging from simple matters, such as directing a member of the group to the nearest chemist, to more serious issues, such as tracking lost baggage.
  • Dealing with unforeseen 'non-client' problems, e.g. flight delays, coach strikes, weather conditions.
  • Resolving any conflict situation e.g. with the Hotel or between clients.
  • Dealing with emergencies, such as helping a customers who are ill or those needing to contact family members urgently.
  • Writing reports and maintaining records.
  • Providing feedback after a tour as part of a debrief session.
  • As the public face of the company, the Adventure Leader must create an excellent first impression and continue to provide outstanding customer service to clients throughout the duration of their stay.

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • 5+ years experience leading groups as a tour guide / tour director
  • Excellent English & local language skills specific to region you are applying for. (both verbal & written)
  • Relates well with American travelers including families with children age 5-18, solo travelers, active travelers and travelers of age 50+
  • Intimate knowledge of and/or experience working in the region you are applying for.
  • Ability to work in an international team
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to create a fun environment to build a cohesive team of travelers and creaging a learning experience in the region; must be fit and active, in excellent shape in body & mind to be able to lead our programs.
  • Highly organized and able to fulfill duties at a high level and on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Proficient computer (MS word & excel) and telephone skills, excellent oral and written English and primary language of the program. Knowledgeable and interactive with Social Media for use as sales tool.
