Job Summary for Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

This position is part of the companywide Finance Department. We are seeking an accounting professional to oversee/improve and facilitate day-to-day accounting functions.   Our department and company is run by the numbers, and we strictly adhere to weekly reporting guidelines

Responsibilities

List of Responsibilities

  • The Director of Financial Planning and Accounting will develop goals for and provide direction to small Accounting team , and lead the team to continually improve performance and close time; 
  • Responsible for the month-end close and coordination of the financial reporting package; review financials CFO on a monthly basis; 
  • Manage the year-end audit and or tax schedule preparation process;
  • He or she will also research and provide guidance on technical accounting issues; contribute to the annual planning process; ensure accurate documentation of and compliance with policies, processes and internal controls; and participate in and/or lead special projects, including the implementation new systems/technologies in order to reduce close time and risk.       
  • Responsible for being on time and have accurate financials (15 calendar day close without material misstatement. 
  • Implementing process improvements through technology or process re-engineering that has a positive impact on close time and accuracy.
  • Establish themselves as a mentor and a resource for accounting personnel.
  • Review and reconcile investments and intercompany transactions on a monthly/quarterly basis

 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Goal oriented
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge that includes GAAP & SOX.
  • Proven success managing and mentoring a top performing team.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, change management, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong systems experience and knowledge that includes proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a working knowledge of enterprise systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel essential
  • Great Plains Dynamics experience a plus

 

  • 7+ years of public/private mix
  • Prior Managerial Experience in an accounting role
  • Proven budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Cash management knowledge
  • Ability to multitask
  • Real Estate accounting and financing experience preferred
  • Highly organized
  • BS degree in Accounting a must
  • CPA a plus
  • MBA a plus
